The Traverse Area Association of Realtors has named Jon Zickert as their 2020 REALTOR® of the Year!

Jon was nominated and selected for his exemplary REALTOR spirit, his volunteerism and involvement in his community, and his accomplishments in business.  Congratulations, Jon, it’s well deserved!

Jon began his career in Real Estate back in 2013, and has “loved every minute of it” since.  “Jon has had several exceptional years of real estate sales performance since becoming licensed,” says Dennis Pearsall, Broker with Real Estate One.  That success has everything to do with his approach to the profession.  Jon chooses to focus on “finding better ways to improve the level of service provided to [his] clients and fellow REALTORS®.”  He views Real Estate as a team sport; he works for his client first and foremost, but understands that you have to work with the REALTOR® on the other side of the sale.  “In the end, it is about getting the transaction closed for BOTH our clients.”

Beyond his day-to-day work, Jon is an example to his fellow REALTORS® for his involvement in his community and his support for the Real Estate Industry as a whole.  Since 2014, Jon has raised over $52,000 in donations for the Special Olympics of Michigan (SOMI) and volunteers every year with the Annual SOMI Winter Games. For his efforts, he was recognized as the 2019 Special Olympics of Michigan Outstanding Volunteer of the Year, Traverse City Area.  Jon is also a member on the Advisory Board of the Real Estate One Charitable Foundation, which raised over $900,000 last year.  $187,000 of those funds were donated to Traverse City area organizations, including Child and Family Services and Arts for All.  He currently serves as a member on the Cherryland Electric Board of Directors, and has previously served as an Officer of the State of Michigan MECA Board and President of the Crystal Lake Elementary PTA.  Jon continues to support the Benzie School system, even volunteering to pack school lunches during the COVID-19 shutdown, a program which fed thousands of Benzie families.  Jon supports the Real Estate Industry as a Major Investor in the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC).  “I strongly believe in supporting the particularly important activities RPAC is involved in.”

TAAR is honored to have someone of Jon’s character represent our Association and the Real Estate Industry as a whole.  “I feel I would make TAAR proud as the 2020 REALTOR of the Year by always setting a good example of what it means to truly be a REALTOR®. It is not about me, but rather it is all about serving my clients, my team members and my community.”  We couldn’t agree more, Jon.
